Do you offer wholesale prices to the trade?
Everyone is welcome to purchase from us. We make no restrictions. So if you are an individual, florist, event organiser, set designer, artist, photographer, hotel, school or shop, you are all welcome to buy. Silk by Design is first and foremost a wholesaler. For trade applications, please create an account on the website and then submit a Trade application.
Do you have a showroom in my area?
Silk by Design has a showroom located at Unit 1A, Island Business Park 23 Flanders Drive Mount Edgecombe Durban. Walk-ins are welcome. We have many of our flower arrangements on show so you can see them in person before you buy.
Can you make up custom arrangements?
Yes, please contact us with your request and we will be happy to help.
Do you do installations?
Yes, we can assist with the installation of Green walls and vertical gardens depending on the project requirements.
Do you hire out flowers/trees?
No. We do not hire out our products short term. For corporate flower rental services please contact SilkSense.
What are your products made from?
Although referred to as “Silk”, our trees, plants, & flowers are made from a range of different materials including fabrics, plastics, and natural materials. The fabrics have been carefully selected to ensure our flowers look as close to nature as possible. At Silk by Design, we bring together products from several international suppliers to offer our customers a wide range of high-quality products.
Our floral arrangements are handmade locally by our skilled and dedicated florists.
What are the stems made of?
All of our flowers have stems which are comprised of one or multiple soft wires (depending on the flower) running down the centre which have been wrapped in paper and finished with a layer of plastic. As each of the stems is wired, they can easily be bent to fit any height of the vase and straightened later if you decide to change how you want to display them!
Can the stems be shortened to suit a particular container?
You will usually require a pair of side cutters or wire cutters to shorten stems as artificial flowers nearly all have a central supportive wire stem.
How long will my artificial flowers last?
It’s hard to determine exactly how long your artificial flowers will last however our estimate would be at least 5-10 years depending on the environment in which they have been displayed. We have had ours for years and they are still looking as ‘fresh’ as ever!
Do you offer any guarantees?
Silk by Design will replace any items free of charge where defective workmanship is reported within 48 hours of delivery. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions.
How to care for Artificial Silk Flowers?
Rinse your flowers under a hand-held spray tap or lightly swirl your flowers around in a bucket filled with cold water to remove all dust and grime. Dust your flowers with a small, dry paintbrush or feather duster. Always use cold water, never use heat or hot water, as this will cause the colours to fade and there may be some colour transfer. Shine your vase with a soft cloth and window cleaner. Allow them to air dry completely in a shaded area or use a hairdryer set on cool air. Read our blog post on How to Clean Artificial Plants.
Delivery Details:
How long does delivery take?
Delivery times depend on the type of products being ordered as well as where they need to be delivered. Individual plants, flower stems, & trees can generally despatched and delivered within a couple of days, while floral bouquets and arrangements take approx. 14 days for delivery.
What are the delivery charges?
Delivery charges are calculated per order and will be shown at checkout. For retail orders over the value of R1000 delivery is free (certain exemptions may apply) within South Africa.

Installments via Float:
Float offers an interest-free monthly instalment service using your existing Visa or Mastercard. With no applications or credit checks, enjoy the convenience of bite-sized, monthly payments.
- You’ll be redirected to the Float website where you’ll review your payment plan as well as enter your credit card details. Note: You have to have a valid Visa or MasterCard Credit Card to use this payment option.
- Once you have entered your Credit Card information click on the “Pay” button to make payment for your order.
- Once you have completed the payment process, you will be redirected back to our website confirming your successful order.
Installments via Payflex:
Pay for your purchase in 4 equal interest-free instalments via Payflex. You pay 25% upfront, then three payments of 25% over the following six weeks.
- You’ll be redirected to the PayU payment screen where you can select the Payflex option.
- The screen will display a summary of your expected payments equally split into 4 instalments.
- You will be required to enter your ID number and confirm/edit your details.
- You will then be sent an OTP (one-time pin) to your mobile phone.
- You’ll then be asked to enter your credit card details.
- Finally, you will be asked to enter/set up a secure password for your current/new Payflex account.
- Once you have completed the payment process, you will be redirected back to our website confirming your successful order.
Redeem gift cards:
- Enter your gift card number and or coupon code at checkout.
- Once you have completed the payment process, you will be redirected back to our website confirming your successful order.
